Info bar
At the very top of the screen is an info bar. Working from left to right, you will see:
- Displayr logo - click here to be taken back to your Documents page.
- The name of your Document - this can be edited and changed in-line.
- Settings
- access the following options:
- Document Settings - See here for details about the document properties, document history, and document access.
- Document Layout - access the document layout (page size).
- Memory Profiling - review your document's memory usage.
- A Cloud or Circle icon
- this signifies if the document is busy processing something (with the circle) and that your changes have finished and been saved (with the cloud).
- A series of operations in orange text - these are processes that are queued to happen in the background of the document.

Share
- lists options for sharing, such as publishing as a dashboard, exporting to Office, and exporting the underlying data.
- A megaphone
- expand this to see recent changes in the app.
- Your initials - click to open a menu to access:
- Account Settings
- Displayr Cloud Drive
- Other user settings
Toolbar
Below the info bar, there is a bar known as the toolbar. Moving from left to right on the toolbar, you'll find:

Report and Data Sources
- Click to hide and unhide the Report and Data Sources tree. See more details about these panes below.

Undo
and Redo
- use these buttons or Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y to undo and redo actions in the Document.
- Search menu - search for functions and actions within the Menus.
- The following icons ONLY appear in the middle of the toolbar when you are working on a Page (to add a Page, right click in the Report tree and select Page and a Layout):
- Table - creates basic as well as specialty tables.
- Visualization - opens the visualization selector, where you can create a visualization.
- Text box - creates a text box output for static text.
- Shape - create a shape.
- Image - adds an image from your computer, the web, or other sources.
- Calculation - creates an R output for Custom Code, a custom AI output, or performs basic mathematical operations on items you have selected.
- Control - adds a dropdown Combo Box, List Box, Text control, or Date control to the Page. These can be changed by viewers in View Mode of the dashboard to affect items in the report, such as filtering tables.
- Templates - open the Template selector to select a specific template output to create.
- Anything (labeled More objects) - includes more features for creating outputs such as advanced analyses, dynamic text boxes, page numbers, and automated reports.

Chat
- Click to hide and unhide Chat. The Chat will appear in the working area when you initially create a Document. Once you create an output of any kind on a page, Chat will be anchored to the right of the working area. This is where you can use Chat to create reports or ask how to do things in Displayr.

Properties
- Click to hide and unhide the Properties. It shows the properties and quick actions of whatever item you have selected (i.e., table, visualization, variable set, Page). Depending on what you have selected, tabs include: Data, Appearance, Chart, and General.

Find and Replace
- Click to hide and unhide. Find and replace items in your document. See How to Edit in Bulk with Find and Replace to edit in bulk.

Comments
- Click to hide and unhide. Opens the Comments panel.

Schedules
- Click to hide and unhide. Set schedules for automatic data and calculation updating and automatic republishing of dashboards.

Animations
- Click to hide and unhide. Add animation effects to your document.

Help
- Click to hide and unhide. This lists the resources available to get help with Displayr, such as searching the documentation and contacting our live support team.
Report and Data Sources trees
Panels shown to the left of the working area (page) from top to bottom are:
- Report tree - top left of the UI, you can add items to your Report, like Pages or standalone outputs not on a Page. There is a search magnifying glass to search for items in your Report.
- Data Sources tree - below the Report tree is the Data Sources tree, which lists all of the Data Sets and variables or Excel Summary tables that have been imported into the Document. There is a search magnifying glass to search for items in these sources.
Panels
Panels shown to the right of the working area (page) are referenced above (Chat, Properties, find and replace, comments, schedules, animations, and Help) and can be accessed from the toolbar buttons.
Page Master and zoom/page controls
Below the working area (page), you can find the following:

Page Master
- Click to go to the Page Master to view and edit the layout of your document.

Zoom controls
- Zoom in and out of your document by clicking the - or + or by typing in a number. The minimum zoom is 10% and maximum zoom is 400%. You can also hold Ctrl+mouse scroll wheel. Clicking the down arrow will open the following zoom options:
Additional settings within the zoom control menu are:
- Fit to Selection - zoom to the selected object's area of the page. This adjusts both zoom level and scroll so the selected object fits within the visible Work Area, centered horizontally and vertically.
- Fit to Page - reset the zoom level to fit the page to the full work area.

Auto-fit
- click to automatically keep the full page visible.

Show Guides
- add guidelines to your work area.

Full screen
- click to enter full screen mode.
Floating toolbar
The floating toolbar will appear when you select an object on a page, hover over a page or output in the Report tree, or hover over a data set or variable in the Data Sources tree. Note: the floating toolbar may appear above or below a selected object on a page, depending on its placement on the page.
You can use the floating toolbar to quickly access a number of functions and panels directly from the floating toolbar. Depending on the item selected, they include:

- A panel will open below the working area, where you can create and edit R code, JavaScript code, and use the AI code writer. Click the icon to hide/unhide the panel.

- Add an output
- Run the Research Agent, add pages or folders, create reports (e.g., banner tables, crosstabs, identify interesting tables, etc.), and other options available as detailed in the toolbar.

From the Data Sources tree

Refresh
- Refresh a data set that is connected to a live data source (e.g., Qualtrics, Forsta, Displayr Cloud Drive, etc.).

Edit Data Source
- Update the data set with a new file. For example, update your Wave 1 file with a new Wave 2 file. This option is only available for files that were uploaded from a local file.
- Add a variable or folder
- See here for a list of automated functions available to create new variables.

Properties
- Click the icon to hide/unhide the panel.
- Code
- A panel will open below the working area, where you can create and edit R code, JavaScript code, and use the AI code writer. Click the icon to hide/unhide the panel.
- Raw Data
- View or edit raw data in this panel. Click the icon to hide/unhide the panel.

Additional notes
Though you can use data that is not in English in Displayr, Displayr's interface is currently only available in English.
